We completed this bathroom installation in Stanway colchester, once again converting an old style separate bathroom and W/C into a larger bathroom room.

Fortunately the client had a second W/C at the property which enabled us to fully strip the two rooms out without too much disruption to the household.

Works completed:

The original layout was a separate bathroom and w/c, We removed 2 x  non-structural partition walls which meant we didn’t need to add any steal for support which was confirmed and tested by a structural engineer.

We adjusted the plumbing around the room to suit the new installation, and installed a shower processor in the loft space to allow for the low pressure water to be pumped giving a nice functional shower from the large outlet and the secondary loose head outlet.

With there originally being two rooms, we adjusted the electrical supply to allow for a single room lighting circuit with 4 spot lights and added an extractor fan to aid removal of the steam created by the shower. Our electrician also added an electrical feed to the mirror and the shower processor.

The ceiling was plastered to leave a smooth finish, once dry we could then seal the plaster ready for painting. The customer did not want the new hall wall plastered as these works will be done within the scope of a future project of renovating and decorating the hall, stairs and landing.

The boxing behind the toilet and basin conceals the toilet framework which was needed for the wall hung toilet and all the pipeworks for both the basin and toilet. The toilet framework included the cistern and is cleverly designed to allow for full access to the functioning parts of the toilet cistern through the push button plate. This keeps everything hidden and tidy but also allows for easy maintenance on the future.

The tiles were 595 x 295 beige format and were installed and finished in a brick bond with a gunmetal coloured grout which really matched these tiles. With the brushed brass tile beading to finish the external edges this really goes well with the tiles and the fittings. We added the also installed the matching floor tiles but in a larger 595 x 595 format.

The bath is specially designed to allow for multi pressure points, his allows the bath to be used for showering as well. This was installed and sealed tightly against the walls before tiling giving extra protection against future issues with leaking which can happen when baths are used for showering.

The basin and vanity unit were purchased by the client separately but really looks good in the room. The wall hung look matches the toilet and modern style of the room.

All the outlets in the room are brushed brass which look stunning against the tiles and tile beading.
