installing air source heat pumps in domestic properties covering Essex & Suffolk
Air source heat pump technology is one of major upgrades to our home we can introduce to help achieve the net zero carbon emission targets, lower our own carbon footprints, and save on costly energy bills.
SYSTEM DESIGN:
Air to water heat pumps takes heat from the air and transfers this heat into your heating system for hot water and heating your homes. With heat pumps running at a much lower flow temperature than traditional boilers, the need to have the system you need sized correctly is hugely important. Undersized, and poorly designed heat pump installations are usually the reason behind the horror stories in poor performance and much higher costs that the public hear regarding this technology. The result of any installation is a warm home, hot water when needed and to lower the energy costs and emissions. To achieve this, we can offer a design service for both new build and existing buildings.
Retro-fitting existing homes:
The installation of air source heat pumps replacing conventional boilers in our existing domestic properties is becoming increasingly popular. To size and installation correctly we offer a bespoke fitting service at a minimal cost which will ensure that the performance of the heat pump and the efficiency.
New build homes: With the government eventually ending the installation of natural gas into new build properties, Air source heat pumps are becoming the go to heat source for the modern home. We offer a free of charge design package for new buildings.
SCOP / COP OF AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS:
The metrics we use to determine how well a heat pump installation is performing are known as COP (coefficient of performance) and SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance).
COP is a point in time snapshot of performance. An hour, a day or week for example.
SCOP is the performance across the whole year.
COP and SCOP is just an easy equation of energy being used (Input) and the heat being emitted into your home (Output). For example, if 1Kw per hour of electrical energy produces 3.5Kw per hour heat output then the COP will be 3.5 or 350% efficient.
Therefore, the COP / SCOP of the appliance is directly related to the external weather and how well insulated your home is, with the heat pump working harder during the colder months to keep the house warm.
With most modern boilers having an efficiency of around 85 – 95%, huge savings can be made with air source heat pumps, however, the system design along with good installation is extremely important.
