We started as usual by protecting the home to prevent as much of the dust and debris from entering the rest of the building. The customer moved out for the duration of the works which meant we were able to just shut and tape the doors into the other rooms.

Works completed:

Before starting the works we had the wall checked to see if it was structural which fortunately it was now. The original layout was a separate bathroom and w/c, We removed the non-structural partition wall which meant we didn’t need to add any steal for support, Unfortunately the diving wall into the landing area was moving and the cement between the blocks was crumbing away which meant we had to take this down for safety reason as well. After we removed this wall also we erected a new stud wall and relocated the door slightly for better access and finish.

The client had a combination boiler installed previously and therefore the house had high pressure water on both hot and cold supplies. We adjusted the water supplies and waste pipework to suit the new locations of the sanitaryware and radiator.

With there originally being two rooms, we adjusted the electrical supply to allow for a single room lighting circuit with 4 spot lights and added an extractor fan to aid removal of the steam created by the shower. We also added a electric toothbrush holder and a feed for the mirror light.

We then had the room and the hall wall plastered to leave a smooth finish, once dry we could then seal the plaster ready for painting.

We installed Multi panel wall boarding into this room, this is a brilliant product, easy to clean and maintain and the style which the client chose really suits the black outlets and finishings.

Again the floor really suits the style of the room and is LVT clic which is suitable for shower rooms.

The client asked for a larger format walk in shower area with the anti-slip tray and a large screen rather than an enclosure with a door, minimises the working parts within the wet area.

We finished the room by painting the un-boarded areas with Dulux diamond eggshell paint. This is fully washable and designed to be used in bathroom and areas of high moisture.
